T'was the night before Christmas and all through the ship...
Not a console was stirring, not even a blip
The stockings were hung on the bulkheads with care
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

Alpha shift was nestled all snug in their bunks
Dreaming of Romulan ale they had drunk
And Spock meditating of Captains to cuddle
Had lit up his firepot, brain in a muddle

When out in the corridor arose such a clatter
He sprang from his quarters to see what was the matter
When what to his wondering gaze should appear
But a vision of Santa, appearing right here.

The corridors dimmed, yet the elf seemed to glimmer
He smiled at the Vulcan whose gaze seemed to shimmer
“Now Spock! Be not surly! I know how you quiver
"I know whose touch and whose gaze makes you shiver!

“I'm Santa. And you've been a VERY good Vulcan
"No crying. No pouting. No whining. No sulkin'.”

He consulted a list. And he showed it quite plain.
(Though Spock thought perhaps he was going insane.
Such things could not be. Perhaps he was facing
A kind of illusion. Spock nodded, his logic embracing.)

Santa chuckled. “No Spock. No mistaking.
"It's real Christmas magic—of your mother's making.
"I'll prove it. I'm no late night illusion.
"I'll take you with me while I'm out there cruisin'.”

And Spock had a journey that night he'd remember
When he looked back upon that night in December.
They visited Andor. They checked in on Klinzhai
He helped to fill stockings even on Beta Trianguli

He left gifts on Terra. And even Ferrengal
Spock helped him. And watched sleeping children who all
Smiled in their sleep. And somehow he knew
That all Santa told him, was actually true.

Somehow the magic of Christmas had worked
And inside him, somewhere, his human half smirked.
Though Spock didn't show it. Still, Santa, he knew
That the Vulcan's all too human heart grew.

And when they'd arrived all back on the ship
He felt inside him his heart give a flip.
They'd filled the crew's stockings, and arrived just an hour
Past the time they had left. That Santa had power!

Santa twinkled. “Now Spock, listen up, listen true
"That Captain you're wanting—well, he's wanting you too.
"So waste not a moment, just go in and beep.
"I think you'll be finding that he, too, can't sleep!"

Santa turned round, and he gave out a whistle,
And faded away, like down on a thistle.

As Santa had told him, he found his dear friend
With arms wide open. Thus to happy end.
So to bed they'd both cuddle
With bodies entwined, the two made a snuggle.

And they both heard an echo as they turned out the light,
“Merry Christmas to all! And to all a good night!”

The End
